Microsoft Edge May Soon Launch with Copilot Ready to Go
Copilot auto-launch in Microsoft Edge could soon become the new default, giving users instant access to AI-powered help as soon as they open their browser or start a new tab.
Currently, if you want to use Copilot in Edge, you need to manually click the icon in the sidebar. Microsoft is now testing a feature that skips this step by automatically launching Copilot whenever the browser starts.
Some users may welcome this change, enjoying the convenience of having Copilot ready to assist at any time. Others might find it intrusive. Either way, it’s clear Microsoft is serious about integrating AI more deeply into the Edge experience.
Another potential update includes an “Ask Copilot” button within Edge’s Settings menu. This could be especially helpful when navigating confusing configuration options—just ask Copilot for help instead of digging around.
Why businesses might benefit
- Faster troubleshooting: Instead of searching for fixes or waiting on IT, users could ask Copilot for immediate support.
- Instant AI support: Whether it’s summarizing articles, writing emails, or generating quick ideas, Copilot would be available the moment Edge opens.
- Enhanced security: Microsoft is also experimenting with a Scareware Blocker—an AI feature to help identify and block scam websites in real time.
Keep in mind, these features are still being tested in Microsoft Edge Canary, and not everything makes it to the final release. But with Microsoft’s strong push toward AI, chances are good this will eventually roll out.
For users who like having a smart assistant baked into their browser, this could be a big productivity boost. For those more privacy-conscious, hopefully Microsoft includes the option to turn it off.
If and when it arrives, Copilot could become a core part of Microsoft Edge—helping users stay productive, solve issues quickly, and browse more securely.
